Discover more About The Farmhouse
The traditional Virginia stucco farmhouse has been thoughtfully renewed, restored and redecorated to preserve and enhance its charms. To quote a recent visitor from Maryland: 'I can't tell you what a blast we had. We felt like we were in a movie. The house could not have been more perfect, it was warm and cozy and allowed us to spend quality family time together. My family loves history and this farm house and property is loaded with just that. We loved the way you have restored it allowing the history to show through yet updating it at the same time.'
All three bedrooms are located on the second floor. The Master bedroom is connected to a beautiful and sunny sitting room looking out over the backyard. There is one full bathroom upstairs, one on the main floor and a third bathroom located in the rec room. The kitchen has a generous island and opens up spaciously into the dining and living areas. There is a sitting room just off the kitchen with a cozy fireplace. Additionally, there is another sitting room/library room just off the main living room that is perfect for a book, a board game, or a family puzzle!
When you head outdoors, the wrap-around porch is the perfect place to watch sunsets or enjoy porch drinks. The brick terrace just outside the living room, with its gas fire-pit is great for stargazing and conversation on cool evenings. Winter nights can be enjoyed by the fire sipping hot cocoa or reading a good book. Surrounded by over one hundred acres of rolling fields and woods with a river on three sides you can soak up the quiet and seclusion.
The 600 sq foot rec room, located beside the barn, is a great spot to let out some energy on a dreary day. We offer ping-pong, foosball, air hockey and a large TV with Nintendo Wii. There is also a treadmill available for your use.
Exploring the property is also must. Deep water access on the shenandoah is perfect for swimming, tubing, water-skiing, wake-boarding with a private boat ramp (suitable for small boats and jet-skis) and a private dock. Bring your own boat and jet skis or arrange with the owner (additional cost can be quoted). Kayaks provided. There is also shallow water access which is also worth exploring, especially for avid fishermen. Wandering through the mowed paths in the field and up to the top of the hill, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, is also a must do.
After a day on/in the river enjoy showering off in the exquisite outdoor shower and sunning yourself dry on the built in bench or experience the fun of showering and then shaving at the outdoor sink with the birds singing above you in the morning light (naturally this feature is closed in the colder months).
Panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Walking/riding trails right on the property. Hunting (in season) and fishing available right on the farm (with permission of owner).

Testimoinals From who stayed here...
“We love staying at Rolling River Farmhouse. It is one of the most peaceful and relaxing places we know.”
““The trip here was amazing! When we got to this house I was amazed how outstanding it looked. We all had so much fun playing ping pong, sitting by the fire, and on the hammock to kayak and just hanging out...””
““We had a lovely stay at the Farm. This property was beautiful, thank you for sharing it. We had my mother’s 60th birthday party here. What a nice time. We enjoyed kayakihng and hiking as well as the vineyards around Front Royal. Glen Manor Vineyard was a must see...We enjoyed our time but now we must go. Take care and thank you...for a great stay.””
““This was one of our very best family vacations! The kids loved the huge yard and hammock and had so much fun in the rec room. We went hiking on Skyline Drive, sightseeing and visited a winery. My personal favorite was just relaxing on the porch, reading and watching the wildlife. A beautiful place, a beautiful home! It’s even better than expected. Thank for sharing. We hope to return one day in the future.””
“We had a fantastic three days here and the Farmhouse! What a beautiful and peaceful setting! We spent all our waking hours from sun-up to way past sunset outdoors, enjoying breakfast on the porch, tubing and kayaking on the river, hiking on the walking paths, lunch and dinner and the picnic tables on the lawn, and sunset chats in the comfy adirondack chairs. The kids delighted in the game room and countless games of hide and go seek. This was a perfect spot for our family to gather and enjoy quality time together!”
“Thank you for sharing your beautiful spot with us! We enjoyed kayaking and exploring the grounds. The 2-year-old had her first canoe ride and first hike -- hopefully the first of many. Hope to make it back here soon!! Loved every minute.”
“We thoroughly enjoyed our visit this past weekend. The house is very comfortable, beautifully furnished, a well equipped kitchen, great outdoor places to lounge for reading and playing games, loved the picnic tables for meals, the outside shower, hot tub and easy walks down to the river. We all were relaxed so much we skipped the idea of hiking and stayed at the house. Great place!”
